Actually I did this update at 2009.
After some internet studied, I bought G47 stator from Electrex UK. I have very limited reference for my CX500, this is the only one CX500 in my country...., just guess my CX is a A or B type.
The Electrex G47 stator arrived on time, in very nice package......
And I start to dismantle my engine..........
Oooooppppss.................
The stator looks difference in shape and wiring.......
Any idea, what type of CX500 is that?.....

I posted a comment on the other page but, I don't see it. Maybe there's a delay. Anyway I've seen that configuration of the two large coils side by side before in an advertisement for a CX stator. I would think that they're location would not impair function as long as they perform as they should. Referring to your CDI box you made. Josh mentioned the white and blue wires are for the high and low speed function of the coils. White is low speed (0 to about 6,000 RPM's) and Blue is high speed (about 5,000 to 9,650). I lost my high speed coil and was able to squeeze between 6,000 and 6,500 RPM's out of it. I think each bike could be a little different depending upon the condition and variables of the electrical system. That being said. You stated that you left out an SCR and that you couldn't get more than 6,500 RPM's or so. I'm weak when it comes to electronics and it's just food for thought but, what if this SCR actually allows the high speed stator coil to switch on? I just noticed that comments must be approved. So, I guess you get the other comment I made about having taken my CDI box apart. Again, I really appreciate your blog and the info you have provided.
